Control the flame before it consumes your life | Facing The Fire Within Series on CEN

Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago. 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment. But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

-(Matt 5:21-22)

Murder is a crime, and terrible sin. Anger against someone is also a sin because it  violates God's command to love.

Did you noticed that anger and murder are both subject to judgment...

Anger in this case refers to a seething, brooding bitterness against someone. It is a dangerous emotion that always threatens to leap out of control, leading to violence, emotional hurt, increase mental stress, and spiritual damage. Anger keeps us from developing a spirit pleasing to God.

Have you ever been proud that you didn't strike out and say what was really on your mind?

Did you know that what began as a smoldering ember in the heart of Moses quickly burst into deadly flames? Perhaps no one noticed the angry sparks flying from his eyes, but his spirit was consumed with the heat of anger. What do you do when you're inflamed with anger thoughts and feelings?

Firefighters know the danger of letting a flame get out of control. They are trained to respond quickly. You must respond quickly also in order to control the flame of anger before it consumes your life and destroys your relationships.

How true it is that:

      " a quick-tempered man does foolish things"

                         (Proverbs 14:17)

As good as self-control is, Jesus wants us to practice thought-control as well. Jesus said that we will be held accountable even for our attitudes. Control the flame before it consumes your life!

Dearest, You are not alone. God is ever willing to help us in our weaknesses. Reach out to Him.

Let's pray. . .

Dear Lord, bring peace to my mind and my heart as I feel angry at the situation I am in. May I take hold of your promise that You will never leave me nor forsake me. In whatever circumstances I face that produces anger in my heart, remind me that you have not left my side and you never will. When you are with me I can trust you to fight my battles, I do not need to allow anger to take control. Give me Your peace Father, may it rule over my life. In Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
